The Great Gatsby

If you haven’t read The Great Gatsby, this is your sign to pick it up. It tells the story of an extravagant billionaire in the 1920s and his desire to reunite with his former lover.

Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for many modern day romances. It’s a classic story of enemies to lovers and is even complete with a declaration of love in the pouring down rain. There’s a reason there have been so many movie adaptations and retellings of this tale.

1984

In this futuristic story, individuality and free thought is banned. However, the main character Winston fights against these rules by writing in a diary and pursuing a romantic relationship.

Frankenstein

Many of know the story of Frankenstein, but did you know that Frankenstein is actually the name of the doctor who creates the monster and not the name of the monster himself? This is a great tale of humanity and horror.

The Outsiders

In this coming-of-age story written by S. E. Hinton, conflicts between two rival gangs lead to violence and questioning of right and wrong. This is a great story of found family, growing up, and dealing with the struggles that come with your socioeconomic status.

Hopefully you decide to give these novels a read this year.
